1.Introduction:

Practice applying direct pressure and tourniquet on the radius bone at the first aid site. Hemorrhage control is an extremely important skill that every rescuer must possess. During training, rescuers need to learn how to control force and pressure appropriately and the proper use of tourniquets. Effective hemorrhage control can save lives when someone is injured in an accident or disaster. The forearm is a common site of injury. Learning hemorrhage control techniques, including applying direct pressure and using tourniquets, with the forearm as a concept can be beneficial. Through practice and repeated training, rescuers can make the right decisions in actual rescue situations.

3.Functionality :

  • Direct pressure :
Direct pressure is one of the most common methods for stopping bleeding. When applying direct pressure for hemostasis on the forearm, it is essential to locate the injured area and apply firm pressure just above the wound on the artery. This helps slow down the bleeding, providing rescuers with sufficient time to address the wound. Applying direct pressure requires a certain amount of force and pressure, but excessive force may lead to further injury. Therefore, in direct pressure hemostasis training, rescuers need to learn how to properly control the force and pressure to effectively stop bleeding without causing additional harm to the wound. When practicing direct pressure on an arm model, it's important to locate the injured area and apply firm pressure with a hemostatic dressing above the wound to help slow down the bleeding. Applying pressure requires a certain amount of force and pressure, but excessive force can lead to further injury. Therefore, in direct pressure training, rescuers need to learn how to control force and pressure appropriately to effectively stop bleeding without causing further harm to the wound.
  • Tourniquet application :
Using a tourniquet is also a common method for stopping bleeding. When direct pressure fails to effectively control bleeding, the application of a tourniquet can be another viable option. When applying a tourniquet to the forearm, it is important to secure the band above the injured area and gradually tighten it by hand. This helps slow down the bleeding, giving rescuers enough time to address the wound. Proper technique in applying and tightening the tourniquet is crucial to achieve hemostasis without causing additional harm. When massive bleeding cannot be controlled or when direct pressure are not effectively stopping the bleeding, the use of a tourniquet can be another effective method. When using a tourniquet on a forearm model, it should be tied above the injured area (proximal to the heart), tightened until the bleeding stops completely, and then medical personnel should be called to handle the wound.※ Proper training in the correct application of a tourniquet is necessary to achieve hemostasis without causing further harm.

When employing any other first aid techniques, it's essential to remain vigilant and undergo appropriate training while being mindful of potential risks and complications.
